Field hockey edged out in state championship ? Williston Observer

The Champlain Valley Union High School field hockey team rode a wave of momentum all the way to the state championship Saturday, but were defeated 1-2 by top seed South Burlington High School.

After a quarterfinal upset against second-seeded Essex High School, the seventh-seeded Redhawks snagged an overtime win in the Oct. 31 semifinal game against third-seeded Mount Anthony to make it to the state championship game at the University of Vermont.

The playoff games brought the CVU field hockey team?s record to 9-7-2 for the season.
